Working with a beginning student, May 2022

"My favorite part of taking lessons here is being able to accomplish goals I never thought would be possible! My amazing teacher Ms. Rachel has inspired me to always keep trying even if the results may be slow to come. She has helped me with my confidence in my flute playing and has encouraged me to believe in myself through every audition, competition, and concert!"

flute studio

Studio enrollment is currently open to students of all ages and experience levels. I teach in home lessons in the Greater Seattle Area - specifically serving students in Snohomish, Mill Creek, Bothell, Lynnwood, and beyond.

In lessons you will:

  • Receive specialized, individual lessons suited to the needs of each student in person or online in lengths of 30, 45, or 60 minute lessons

  • Develop a beautiful tone and proper, efficient technique

  • Learn music theory, history, and world music from different eras and settings

  • Participate in student chamber music ensembles and perform in solo recitals

  • Become a better performer - conquer performance anxiety and grow confidence

  • Develop artistic expression, own your musicality, and have fun!

Whether you are a budding musician excited to start or a seasoned player working towards a professional career, I am here to help you achieve your musical goals. Please leave me a message on my contact page or email me at rachelreyesflute@gmail.com for a trial lesson and more information.

teaching philosophy

First and foremost, lessons are a collaboration between the student and teacher. Lessons are a safe space for students to dare to be bold! While we work hard to achieve technical excellence and perform with utmost respect to the original compositions, I encourage students to prioritize expressing their own musical messages. Practicing fundamentals and establishing a good foundation of beautiful tone and efficient technique are the building blocks for musical excellence and artistry.

Since musical practice is often immeasurable, it is important to have weekly attainable goals as well as broader long term goals to help students celebrate their progress in their musical journey and plan for the exciting road ahead. In this studio, we value progress over perfection. Beyond practicing, the goals of every lesson are to help foster confidence in oneself, practice kindness towards ourselves and others, and continually develop our abilities to listen and communicate.
