Biography
Rachel Reyes, originally from Seattle, WA, is an active soloist, chamber musician, orchestral player, and teacher residing in Tempe, AZ. Recently, Reyes performed the Doppler Andante et Rondo double flute concerto with Professor Donna Shin and the University of Washington Wind Ensemble. In 2019, she was awarded a fellowship position and performed in the Faculty Artist Concert Series at the Sewanee Summer Music Festival in Tennessee. Previously, she performed with the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber Orchestra and was a featured performer at the ARIA International Summer Music Academy in Massachusetts.
In addition to her national performances, Rachel was invited to perform and teach masterclasses with the University of Washington (UW) Wind Ensemble on their performance tour of China. Rachel earned her Bachelor of Music Performance degree studying with Professor Donna Shin at the University of Washington—where she also performed as principal of the UW Symphony Orchestra and with the Baroque and Modern Ensembles. Prior to this, she has performed alongside the Seattle Symphony and Seattle Modern Orchestra; and under the direction of conductors Ludovic Morlot, JoAnn Falletta, Gemma New, and Michael Jinbo amongst other renowned conductors. She will continue her studies at Arizona State University with Dr. Elizabeth Buck.
Additional studies include lessons with Karla Flygare, Zart Dombourian Eby, and Jeffrey Barker. She has performed in masterclasses for Marianne Gedigian, Jonathan Keeble, Molly Barth, Jill Felber, Juno Lee, and Janet See. Outside of her studies, Rachel maintains a private studio in the greater Seattle area teaching and leading masterclasses for beginner to undergraduate college students. When she isn’t in a practice room, she spends her weekends volunteering at her church, Charisma Christian Center, and propagating succulents for her friends and family.
